A little catch up

I feel like I'm always playing catch up but we've been quite busy and frankly I'm just tired.

We had a great Thanksgiving- even though it was our first big holiday without my dad. It wasn't as traumatic as I was anticipating but I think hosting & chasing kids helped with that.

We made cute hand & foot turkey shirts the night before-  of course my crafty-mom guilt set it around noon on Wednesday when I realized we made turkey shirts last year and I had totally neglected it this year. So after a quick stop at JoAnns and with Ryan's help we made some pretty cute shirts :)

Then on Friday, Hazel & I were on our way to Chicago to visit my dad's side of the family for the weekend. It was also the first time I had been there since both my dad and aunt have been gone. Emotional is a good way to describe it.

But Hazel did great on the plane and loved the visit. Although we both crashed at 6:30 & 7:30 when we got home yesterday :)

We have also had some exciting news in regards to H4. Our sweet babe looks perfectly healthy and is grown right on track!!

Oh & we shared our gender news with our families over Thanksgiving weekend. It was a good excuse for me to get my rear in gear when it came to our Christmas decorations!!

Yup! H4 is another boy!!!!

I'll admit that I'm a bit bummed Hazel won't have a sister [ummm H5, anyone?? LOL] but we love having a house full of crazy boys so I'm sure Hampton will fit right in with his older brothers!! March can't get here soon enough!!

Room sharing & bunks.

Our house has 4 bedrooms upstairs [one additional bedroom in the basement- 2 whole levels away!]. Perfect for 3 kids. Well now that H4 is on their way [woot! 20 weeks today!!]- we have some room figuring out to do. I suppose I should say had because we figured it out but now is the hard part where we actually stick with the plan.

But first we have a few problems.

The first we created way too long ago was letting Henry sleep in bed with us. & by 'us' I mean pretty much on top of me all.night.long. Yeah it's not ideal and needs to stop.

& second. Holden has been an angel sleeper- going to bed around 715/730 and waking up at 8. Ahhhh my sweet Holden. Well until last week where as I was getting something out of my bedroom I see Holden walking in [after we already put him in his crib] and said with a huge smile, "No nigh nigh yet mommy!" Rinse and repeat. Big problem- no big boy bed ready for him yet.

Soooo what did we do??? We tried- keyword being 'tried'- to get both boys to sleep in Henry's room with the queen sized bed. I mean what little kids wouldn't want to sleep with their sibling?!? A whole room to themselves, no parents and we even told them to play before they went to bed.  Riiiiight. Not my kids. Lots of screaming to get out and banging on the door.

++++

Next plan- bunk beds. Since the boys will have to share a room until Henry is old enough to move to the bedroom in the basement [maybe like when he is 15...lol] we figured we should try and make this as cool & fun as possible. What's more fun than bunk beds? Bunk beds with a MAGIC TENT, that's what!!!

Ta da!!!!!!!!! Thank you Ikea!!!

It only [haha!] took Ryan 4 hours to put together yesterday & last night was our trial run. Sure- Ryan had to lay in there until they both fell asleep and Henry came in our room at 3am and Holden at 4am- but I'll take night 1 as a success.

We'll see how the rest of the week goes. We have 20 weeks to get these boys sleeping all night, by themselves!!

If you have any experience, PLEASE share!
