Labor and Delivery

This may get long and contain "too much information" :)

I didn't think we would be heading to L&D for at least another 8 weeks but Henry had other plans...

So on Wednesday I was minding my business at work when I noticed that I was leaking some kind of fluid. It was kind of a lot so after talking with my mom, I called the dr who wanted me to come it get it checked out to make sure I was not leaking amniotic fluid. I finished up work and headed to the dr. He ran a few tests, one to check to see if I was leaking amniotic fluid and another to see if I am in pre-term labor (which both came back negative- thank God).

While we were waiting for those results I asked the Dr how often I should feel Henry kick because the last few days I hadn't felt him as much as I did before. So he said we will do an u/s quickly so he can show me how he is laying. Oh and Ryan was in the waiting room because he didn't make it to the appt before I got called back.

Anyways he starts the u/s and Henry's heart was beating just fine but he wasn't moving.at.all. He tried to wake him up by shaking my belly around but he didn't move. Then the dr said he is going to send me to labor and delivery to be monitored for awhile to make sure Henry wasn't in distress. This is when I started to freak out. I walked out to the waiting room and as soon as I saw Ryan I lost it- I was crying hysterically. Ryan tried to calm me but it really wasn't working. All I could keep thinking is "Henry is too small to come now".

So we get to L&D and I get hooked up to the baby monitor, meanwhile there is a young girl moaning and groaning across the hall. She is clearly in labor and I was freaking out yet again. I am so not mentally ready for labor. Anyways, after awhile the dr came in to talk to us about Henry's chart and he said it is the best 29/30 week heart rate chart he has ever seen. Whether he was just trying to make us feel better or not, I don't care :) Then they brought me dinner- which was kinda weird because I have never been in the hospital before let alone long enough to be served a meal- it was spaghetti and was ok. Then the nurse came in to check my cervix- which hurt SO bad...well she said I am much softer and thinner than it should be at 29/30 weeks and I will have to have pre-term labor and cervix checks just about every 2 weeks from here on out.

So little Henry gave us quite a scare but for now he is staying put and is doing just fine...we are just hoping it stays this way for at least another 8 weeks!

I'm glad everything is ok! I'll be praying that Henry stays put until at least 37 weeks :)
