But that excitement was very short lived. Shortly after waking up I realized I had started to spot. Well today was my due date for my period so I wasn't too worried at first but as the day went on and the spotting continued and got brighter I started to panic.
We had our dr appt this afternoon and I told him all about the spotting and he said that it can be very common in the 1st trimester but also that I should know that 20-30% of pregnancies will end in a miscarriage. Great. He did an exam and he didn't see any blood and my cervix was closed- which is really good. However, he did say if I was miscarrying at this point my cervix could still be closed. They also did a unrine and blood test which I won't hear about until Monday. Stupid holiday weekend.
They filled our minds with anything and everything pregnancy related. They gave us our "labor card" to put in our wallets for when I go into labor and all kinds of literature about what to be expecting over the next 9 months. It was hard to be excited while knowing I could very well lose Baby S.
Only time will tell and I pray so hard that this baby will stick and I can carry our sweet little one the full 9 months.
