This is going to get long...
After my shower on Saturday, Ryan and I were running a few errands when I noticed I was having a few painful contractions. After a few more contractions I decided to pay a little more attention to see how far apart they were. Well turns out they were coming about every 3-5 minutes and were fairly intense. I had called the baby line earlier in the day because I had a constant stabbing pain for about an hour and they said to come in if things worsened or I started having contractions.
So I called labor & delivery and they told me to head on in. When we got there they hooked me up to the baby and contraction monitor. Henry was doing just fine and moving all over the place...the contractions however we still coming about every 3-5 minutes and were registering pretty intense. So our super nice nurse came in with a big 'ol shot of Terbutaline in her hand :( I sucked it up but oh.my.gosh that was the most painful shot I have ever gotten. Well after further monitoring, the contractions continued so in she came with another shot. Boo!
A little while later I overhear a few of the nurses talking in hall and one of them said, "She needs an IV." I started freaking out saying to Ryan, "There is NO way they are talking about me." Well a few seconds later the nurse came in with all the gear to set me up with an IV. I immediately start shaking because 1. the contractions aren't stopping and 2. I have never had an IV before I was scared to death. They put it in started the fluids.
Well do you think that worked at stopping the contractions? No. So they then informed us that we will be staying over night for further monitoring to try and stop the darn contractions. By this time they had checked my cervix twice and there was no change, so that was really good!
I called my mom to go get my dogs and Ryan ran home to get a few nightly essentials. I had told Ryan he didn't have to stay at the hospital but being the amazing husband that he is, he insisted that he stay by my side. Once we got set up in our room, the dr came in with yet another medication to try and stop the contractions. The pill started to help slow them down but they continued to come a lot closer than they should be.
They came into our room about every 4 hours to check my cervix and give me another pill. Let's just say we didn't get much sleep...well that and the fact that I was up going to the bathroom every hour or so and let me tell you that unplugging a monitor and wheeling an IV thing into the bathroom doesn't make for a quick trip!
Once morning came they checked my cervix again and it was still unchanged and not dialted and the contractions were still there but I couldn't feel them so they said we could get ready to go home. The dr then came into the room to go over the discharge information...and she said I was on bedrest until I hit 34 weeks (which is this Thursday) and then she said that if contractions start and I go into labor after 34 weeks, they will not try to stop it. I will be having my baby.
I am a little freaked out by this but since the fetal fibronectin test came back negative, they said Henry will not be coming in the next 2 weeks! Thank goodness! Basically at this point we are praying to make it to 37-38 weeks.
So there it is...another trip to L&D. Hopefully the next time will be our last and we will have our little Henry home with us!

That sounds eerily familiar! I hope the contractions stop with bedrest! Good luck!
How scary!! I hope baby Henry stays put until at least 37 weeks.
Good luck! I hope you stay away from L&D for a couple more weeks.
