Just like with the boys' rooms, I have had my heart set on making as many of the decorative items as possible. I seem to start swearing at myself each time I sit down to do it but just like their birthday invitations, it's my way of making their rooms special. At least special to me because what 2 year old boy or newborn girl cares if their mom made their crib blanket?!?
Anywho...I decided [& I say 'I' because Ryan really could care less what I decorate Harper's room like] that I wanted her to have a shabby chic, romantic, almost vintage-y room. One that would grow with her & wasn't your typical butterfly or flower room.
I have literally been on the hunt for fabric for quite awhile & finally I found what I was looking for. & at my local JoAnn's...haha :) I picked three beautiful prints that are all different but that I think go together quite well.
Last Friday afternoon, instead of picking the boys up early from daycare, I sat down at my sewing machine to make my daughter's crib blanket. I went back and forth if I wanted it to be quilty squares or just a simple 2-sided blanket. I went with the simple 2-sided.

I LOVE how it turned out. It's simple and delicate & I made it large enough that it should work as her blanket as a toddler. Of course being the emotional freak that I am, I even cried as I sewed the last few stitches. I really, really hope she loves it as much as I do. Next project...a matching crib skirt & ruffle curtains.
Oh yeah & according to my ticker...Harper is due in 99 days. That's less than 100 days & like 3 months. Holy smokes! We really need to get a move on Holden's big boy room so we can get him settled in & really start on Harper's room.
