Most nights we rush through the boys' bedtime routines to make sure they are sleeping by their 'bedtime'.
But last night we took a bit longer and literally soaked up the sleepy haze moments with the boys. Ryan rocked Holden to sleep...which is usually my job but with my gigantic stomach doesn't work out very well anymore and Holden can't get comfortable in my arms. So I did Henry's routine.
We read "God Knows All About Me" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" [he picks the same books every night & reads along with every page], we rocked in his rocking chair for a few minutes then I plopped him down and he climbed into bed. Ryan had been laying on the floor to get him to fall asleep but instead I sat next to his bed and rubbed his back and played with his hair.
Sure it took him over a half hour to fall asleep but I just stared at my oldest baby boy and soaked up every single second of it. I watched as his eyes got heavier and heavier, his blinks got longer, I held his hand when he asked for it. & finally he fell asleep. I quietly creeped out of his room with a smiling heart.
It was exactly what I needed last night.

Yes, I know the feeling. We actually still rock my 2 year old to sleep, and he will only let Daddy do that now b/c he can't get comfy with my big belly! But I love our morning snuggle time when he wakes up and comes to my bed to drink his milk and watch cartoons.
You gave me goose bumps reading this! I love those moments :)
Such beautiful sweet moments :)
